New Coach Zidane and Christiano Ronaldo |
Real Madrid is
undoubtedly one of the top three teams across the European continent in terms
of fighting force. But notwithstanding the arrival of Zidane, their defensive woes seem
to aggravate.
This is mainly due to the non-existence of a real defensive midfielder.
Ever since selling out Xabi Alonso to Bayern Munich and Sami Khedira to
Juventus, they have failed to fill the space left by them which has cost the
vikingos very vital points in important matches. Although they boast the likes
of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, the German and Croat fulfil the central play
maker role rather than the defensive minded combative player they need.
One player to fit in very well in this task at Los
Blancos is Casemiro, who has indeed impressed but is probably dubbed
inexperienced to feature regularly for the team.
Another, in
the shape of Mateo Kovacic who was also signed from Inter in the summer seems
to be a box-to-box midfielder with versatility rather than a holding orchestrator.
After two wins in a row, Real Madrid dropped points at Betis
while spying their arch-rivals Barca stretch their lead at top of the La Liga
campaign.
In order to
hold on to their title challenge, buying a powerful and strong holding enforcer
should be a must in the January transfer window or they face the huge possibility
of crushing out on the title once again.
