As the Ghana Football Association (GFA)
closed its online player registration on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Kumasi
Asante Kotoko’s striker Amed Toure who made a third comeback to the team at the
start of the 2014/15 season after signing a three-year contract was nowhere to
be found on the registered list.
Kotoko duly registered 29
players – 14 being new players with the same number of players retained from
last season and one, Felix Annan back from a loan stint.
Accra
Representative, Edmund Ackah - an instrumental figure in the club's
registration process told Asantekotokosc.com that, Toure wasn’t registered
because management couldn’t establish his whereabouts.
“Along
the line he was away for national assignment, which was understandable. We
didn’t hear from him again even after we formally wrote to him demanding
answers to his unexplained absence” said Ackah.
The
management member continued that, at a time when the pre-season had started
with recruitment also over and the forward’s whereabouts unknown, it would have
been improper to register him.
“Toure
neither reported for training nor did he respond to our letter. With the
technical team proceeding with their work, we concluded that adding him to our
registration list wasn’t going to serve the club’s interest” Ackah said.
