Saani Daara -GFA communication directer |
The Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association,
Ibrahim Saani Daara insists the upcoming 2016 Ghana Premier League will be very
throat-cutting compared to previous years. The sixteen premier league clubs have strengthened their
squads with the addition of new players in order to build upon their
performance in last season’s League even though there has not been official sponsors for the league.
Saanie Daara told Boss FM that he believes the upcoming
Premier League would be one of the most competitive leagues played in recent
years due the adequate preparations done by the various clubs as well as the
players they have purchased to beef up their squads.
‘’Every thing is on course for us to start the league on
February 20 as scheduled, very soon we will release the full fixtures for all
to see. All the clubs are preparing, even this weekend almost all the clubs
played a friendly game,’’he told Kumasi-based Boss FM.
’You could clearly see that the clubs have done well this
pre-season with respect to player signings. It was unfortunate that Kotoko’s
Dauda Mohammed got injured in their friendly against Bechem United, but In
Accra, Hearts new signing Samudeen did well in their international friendly,’’
‘’Ashgold have also bolstered their team. Aduana is the most
surprised team to me because they purchased players you would thought they may
be signed by either Kotoko or Hearts,’’
‘’The competition will be very exciting in this year’s
league. Medeama, Dwarfs and all the other teams have augmented their teams. So
I expect a very competitive season.’’
The domestic top-flight has been dated to start on the 20th
of February.
